THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATIONS
When searching for a water filtration product, it is important to make sure the product contaminant reduction claims are certified by a reputable, independent source. 3M Purification Inc. works hard to manufacture products whose claims pass the rigorous testing standards of two of the most respected names in the industry, NSF and WQA.
NSF International is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization focused on public health and safety. For more than 65 years, NSF has protected public health through its consensus standards development, independent product testing and third-party certification services. Details on NSF-certified products are listed on NSF’s public website: www.nsf.org/certified/consumer/listings_main.asp. NSF certification provides reassurance to those who manufacture, sell and use products through its independent review and testing. Most products must undergo toxicological reviews, performance testing and manufacturing facility inspections before certification is granted. Perhaps more important, NSF certification is not a one-time activity. Rather, certified companies must agree to NSF’s regular unannounced inspections of the manufacturing facilities and periodic re-testing against the requirements of the most current version of the applicable national standard. If for any reason a product fails to meet the certification criteria, NSF takes whatever enforcement actions it deems necessary to protect the public, including product recall, public notification, or de-certification.

The Water Quality Association (WQA) is a not-for-profit association that has devoted its Gold Seal Product Certification Program and Laboratory to provide manufacturers an independent third party product testing program to evaluate water treatment products. WQA’s Gold Seal Product Certification Program has been testing and certifying drinking water treatment products (filters, reverse osmosis equipment, water softeners, etc.) for over 50 years. Through the Gold Seal Program, WQA has provided public health and safety services for consumers and regulators in the USA and throughout the world. All product testing and certification activities are carried out by trained, competent Certified Water Specialists. The Gold Seal Program follows strict testing standards and certification policies to confirm that all products certified by WQA meet or exceed performance specifications, structural integrity parameters, and material safety criteria. WQA also helps assure continued product quality by conducting regular factory inspections (audits), continuous monitoring, and consistent re-testing of certified products to ensure continued compliance with all standards and certification requirements. WQA’s Gold Seal Program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Standards Council of Canada (SCC). All products certified by WQA are authorized to apply the recognized Gold Seal Certification Mark. Information about the WQA, the Gold Seal Certification Program and the products they have certified can be found on their website: http://www.wqa.org/
